In 2019 and 2020, The Parkland Poets’ Society partnered with the Stony Plain Photo Fan Club to create two series of works for Alberta Culture Days. Each piece of work consists of a photo taken by a Photo Club photographer, and a matching poem written by a Parkland Poet. The combination creates a powerful art piece that does two things for the viewer: first, it lets the reader see what the poet is seeing during the writing process, and second, it articulates for the viewer some of the thousands of words that each pictures is worth.
We suggest you watch it each compilation video all the way through once to get a sense of the whole, and then go back to the beginning and pause on those images where you would like some time to read the poem. We hope you read them all!
